Setup Tips

Before placing in an aquarium, we recommend soaking the driftwood in clean water for 24–72 hours to waterlog it and help reduce tannin release. This will also help it sink more easily. A light scrub with a clean brush (no soap) is recommended before first use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this natural spider wood driftwood safe for fish and shrimp in an aquarium?

A: Yes! This driftwood contains no high-concern chemicals or artificial treatments, making it completely safe for fish, shrimp, snails, and other aquatic life. It is a natural wooden ornament designed specifically for aquarium use.

Q: Will the driftwood sink on its own in my fish tank?

A: Natural driftwood may float initially. We recommend soaking it in a bucket of clean water for 24–72 hours before placing it in your aquarium. This waterlogging process helps the wood sink and also reduces tannin leaching, which can temporarily tint the water.

Q: Can I use this spider wood in a reptile terrarium or vivarium?

A: Absolutely! This versatile natural branch is perfectly suited for reptile enclosures including setups for bearded dragons, geckos, chameleons, and lizards. It provides natural climbing perches and hiding spots that mimic a reptile's natural environment.

Q: Can aquatic plants like Java moss or anubias be attached to this driftwood?

A: Yes — spider wood is a favourite among aquascaping enthusiasts because its intricate branching structure provides an excellent anchor point for mosses, Java fern, anubias, and other aquatic plants, creating a lush natural aquascape.
